Opposing Ampersand Motion Project
One of my first motion projects ever! I am so proud with how it turned out!
Design Challenge
The real power behind motion design is in telling a compelling narrative. To help you see how you can do this in a practical way, you will design and then animate an ampersand. To ensure you have some conflict, you will use two opposite words as a starting point.
Procedure
Identify your two opposing words. (ie hot & cold) Then look at a lot of ampersands. Using those as inspiration, sketch out your ideas on how you will animate the conflicting words you chose through the ampersand shape.
You can create this in After Effects or you can import your file from Illustrator.
Animate your ampersand using the storytelling and animation techniques and tools we have learned in After Effects to communicate your graphic. Use the shape of the ampersand to help portray the story.
Think metaphorically.
Think about timing and pace, when do you reveal the type?
Use this to help tell an interesting and compelling story.
You need to show/reveal both of your opposing words at some point during the animation.
Use sound design to elevate the narrative and support the motion
Final Product
Complete an 8-10 second movie animating your ampersand.
