Pixels and Print 2025

Empower Parkinson -

Social Media Design

I had the opportunity to participate in the Pixels and Print workshop for the second time! This workshop, held at S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, is a 48-hour "design sprint" where students rebrand and redesign a local organization (more specifically, designing print material, social media posts/templates, motion design, immersive design, and redesigning the organization's website) and collaborate with industry professionals. This year, we worked with Empower Parkinson, an organization that provides services such as exercise classes, support groups, singing lessons, and more for people with Parkinson's disease.

As a part of the print team, I focused on helping to ideate a new logo, typefaces, colors, and other branding materials. Additionally, I created social media posts and templates that could be transferred into Canva for the client to access and make changes to the posts easily and as needed. I have given them the ability to change each photo and text to tailor to their needs. I took the backgrounds of each post right from Illustrator, so they don’t have to worry about things moving around in the background and only have to worry about the photos and text! They don’t do much with their social media, so my goal was to make creating posts for them as easy as possible!

Not only did I gain amazing experience at Pixels and Print, but I also had the opportunity to create something truly impactful, which made a crazy 48 hours very rewarding in the end.
